When Emst saw POSH on the London stage, she thought one of the actors was like a young Tom. That same fella is in this film with Tom. It amused me enormously to see them together. To my eye, they don't have the same energy. Tom isn't quite the excitable puppy that the youngster is but they're both perfectly cast. Someone had tweeted that it was "seven kinds of stupid" that they were both in the film and not playing characters that were related. lol. I can't wait to see this film.

If you are able to access BBC iPlayer then you might want to check out The Culture Show. Alastair Sooke meets portrait artist Jonathan Yeo as he prepares for a solo show at the National Portrait Gallery. The son of a Conservative MP, his subjects range from political leaders to Hollywood stars, including Nicole Kidman, Kevin Spacey, Damien Hirst and Tony Blair. In the lead-up to the exhibition, Yeo allows BBC cameras into his usually private studio, revealing the challenges and pleasures of painting people for a living, and the subtle dynamic that develops between artist and sitter. The programme features acclaimed British actor, Tom Hollander, as he sits for a portrait, and follows the progress of the canvas from the first brushstrokes to the final reveal. As I type this it is still "coming soon" but you can bet I will be checking it out. This was tweeted by The Culture Show this morning.

I popped along to the multi-plex the other night. The critics are not being very kind but it's an enjoyable enough lump. Tom manages to show a broad arc to his character despite being a tad under-written. Go and see it with few expectations and you'll enjoy it. Mr Gleeson is wonderful to the point of being almost ethereal. Thanks for the little review! I am really looking forward to seeing it in November when we get it over here. x

Short article about Invisible Woman... Tom: Fiennes exhausted by DickensTom Hollander has revealed he had to be a voice of encouragement to Ralph Fiennes on his new film The Invisible Woman, as he was exhausted from directing and playing the lead. The film tells the story of Charles Dickens' mistress Nelly Ternan. Director Ralph stars as Dickens, while Tom plays his friend and fellow writer Wilkie Collins. Tom said: "It was brilliant. he was acting and he was directing and it was very, very impressive watching him do it. "I was playing his friend and I needed to do that on the set as well because he was exhausted the whole time. "Playing the lead and directing something, I was watching him right at his fingers end in terms of his energy. "But I've seen the film and he's absolutely brilliant in it." The film was adapted by The Iron Lady's Abi Morgan from Claire Tomalin's book of the same name. Felicity Jones stars as Nelly Ternan and Kristin Scott Thomas plays her mother. www.theargus.co.uk/leisure/showbiz/10517153.Tom__Fiennes_exhausted_by_Dickens/

Just found out today that this film (which is now titled "Stand Off") is streaming on Netflix. I don't think it ever made it to the theatres here. I'm going to check it out tonight though.

Thanks for posting that Sue. I saw it too this morning. I was really hoping that they would fix the errors in it. I can't believe that they had the wrong name in the first bullet (Dylan HARTLEY?) It does look like it will be good though!
