Thanks for posting this Sara. I am slow on these things lately. Good to know we have alert Hollanderians to pick up the slack! I did just add it to the marquee on Thomagination though. Deb xx

Whoah, I just found out about this. This is great news. It would be excellent if he won. I think his competition is pretty weak!

Thats great! I'm happy for him. When we will know it? The awards are on June 6th Ani. We'll post something when we know more. At the very least you should be able to go to Getty Images that evening and see pics I think.

Just reporting in to say that the award in Tom's category went to his sometime co-star Matthew Macfadyen.

I am sad. Someone I know is happy... right PE? I have not seen Criminal Justice but I was hoping that since Gracie! got way better reviews than Enid that he would win.

Oh I forgot he was in criminal justice - that was excellent but not because of him - he was barely in it considering he was the one who got killed. But he was good in it. Deb, really recommend you do see Criminal Justice the second series (I haven't seen the first) it was really good.

Tom's a real actor's actor, and his fans are a of a level of sophistication that is unmatched. This just means we all have discerning taste. I'm not too surprised that he didn't win (though of course disappointed), but I was sooo happy he was nominated because his performance as Monty really was top-notch!

I think Tom would be the first to acknowledge Matthew's talent as both a serious and comedic actor but I would say that, wouldn't I? ;D I also think it's a testament to his talent that he won his award for such a fleeting role. He played 'pleasing man being sinister' very well.
All that said, in my heart of hearts, I feel this year he may have got more votes because people had been stunned that hadn't won before, for Secret Life in particular.
Debs, if you have the opportunity to rent Series One of Criminal Justice you really should look at that as well. It's the same writer (wonderful man called Peter Moffat who wrote Cambridge Spies) and the cast is extraordinary.
