Hello fellow citizens of Hollanderia, Take a look over at imdb -- Our Guy's biography has been updated! Formerly, a fellow-citizen-fan named "Gabrielle" was credited with providing a short bio, but it was made a few years ago, and just didn't reflect much newer than Enigma -- so it seemed like time for an update. Gabrielle, if you're out there, a sweeping bow and a mighty flourish of the nautical headgear to you for your pioneer entry! I'm pleased to say that the new bio, submitted on Friday for consideration, was accepted immediately into publication and showed up today! Let's hope it speaks well for him and contains relatively few egregious mistakes...! Ha!

Great! One thing though, as far as I know the Almeida is not part of The National Theatre. The NT houses the Olivier Theatre, Lyttelton Theatre and Cottesloe Studio (where Landscape was staged). The Almeida is its own entity on Upper Street in Islington where Tom did lots of his earlier stage work.

I took Almeida out for now (for their next update), although I had copied it so dutifully into my notes..... Now I am curious why i did that....

He did do some plays at The Almeida. Tartuffe, The Government Inspector, Don Juan and King Lear. The Almeida also produced The Judas Kiss. According to his imdb, he only did School for Scandal (1990) and Landscape with Weapon at the NT.

Now I think I see my confusion: you wrote, "at the Almeida" and "at the NT" as if you were speaking of physical venues: I was thinking of the companies that produced the plays, as well. Am I right that sometimes venues and companies overlap, for various reasons? When gathering info, I try to go by information provided on theatre programmes (if available) first, and second by reviews. Sometimes he is listed as doing such and such a play for the NT, but at another venue entirely -- the Donmar Warehouse, say. I've been treating those as company vs. venue. I have to do more to keep them separate.... thanks again for the input!

Yes, thanks for the heads up on these things. I am in the process of making these corrections to Thomagination as well. I have been collecting the programmes when they show up on eBay or from other sources. I have quite a few now. I should list them here to see if anyone has a lead on the missing pieces.

I haven't seen those programs so I can't say for certain but I can't imagine the NT would ever produce a play that was staged at the Donmar. The Donmar, like The Almeida, is its own production company that stage their own productions. I know the NT has transferred some of their productions to the West End (such as that Jerry Springer musical and The History Boys) but that's because the play was successful and would be profitable on a West End Stage. The Donmar is not a 'theatre for hire' like the theatres on Shaftesbury Ave. Could they possibly have been co-productions?

Oooohhhh ....I wish I had your first-hand experience! I do try to use good sources, but I'll have to look a little more closely now, I can see that....
