This is an excellent piece (I am only up to page 18!) but it does make me cry...not because it WILL make us cry in the theatre but because it upsets me that it will not get the chance it deserves for an Oscar nomination. I am hoping that somehow they rethink that release date again.  Reflections added after reading further...Remember when Tommy said this (when asked to name something or someone he truly believes in): The transcendent power of music. Reading these notes on The Soloist makes me think that the movie may have played a part in that response. It was around the same time that he did that interview and when he announced on Richard and Judy, that he was in the film and learning to play the cello. What do YOU think? It is around pages 24-25 in the section about Dario Marianelli and the music. I hope you all will read this. It is fascinating and makes me want to see the film more than ever! AND...there is a lovely 2-1/2 page bio starting on page 39. |

I got a BBFC update in my RSS this morning which is very encouraging. It contains spoilers which I have not read so they might not really be spoilers! I did get excited for a moment but the FDA still show Sept 11th. |

I just saw an ad on Logo; they're having a "Movie House" weekend where they show different movies and in between are going to be clips and interviews "with the cast". It's probably just going to be Jamie Fox and RDJ doing the interviews, but maybe they'd have Tom in one of the clips!!

Thanks PE! I think I already pre-ordered the regular version. I am still holding a grudge about the whole situation but I will shut up. There better be some deleted scenes on there! |

It must seem like ages since you all saw it Stateside. Is there another thread somewhere for members comments? I am so behind with stuff over the last month The thing I am going to tonight is a special event with Seamus McGarvey talking afterwards. There are thingytails & canapes rumoured so a) I wonder if Tom might just slip along b) why am I wearing trainers, sloppy cotton chinos and a silly Drunken Monkey t-shirt?  ETA - that is hilarious - the Proboard censor doesn't like fancy drinks, apparently! That's taking prudishness a tad too far  |

I watched The Solist today. I loved movie. A brilliant history how to help peoples, how to trust them.
I just thought the movie very slow, long a lot.
Tom made a little role. It is a pity. I wish I had seen him more times.
