Those who know the thomagination.com site can probably imagine what's gone into researching Tom's various projects over his career. The sources for it have included published reviews, of course (those are the "easy" ones!) but also thin leads provided by other sources: passing mentions in the websites of colleagues, television sites, radio-show fansites, rumors and half-accurate credits from everywhere.
Some of the most interesting leads come from programmes from his own plays. It's interesting what comes up in six or seven lines of text next to a teeny picture. I try to imagine who writes these bios: I've always assumed someone asks the actor for that content, but who knows? They're never the same, so it's a good bet if Tom himself provides them, they're written on the fly, based on whatever is most recently on his mind.....
Two sources I am looking for now go back to his 1998 programme for The Government Inspector. In his bio there, he mentions two things I'd never run across before: something called "Too Clever by Half" and an appearance in "The Importance of Being Earnest". The first one may be the play by Ostrovsky, also known as "Diary of a Scoundrel" (hehe, irresistible to imagine, hmmm???) -- but I can't track anything down on either. I think they were radio plays, which is why I'm posting about them here...
Can anybody here shed any light on these? your intrepid (and Clandestine) Librarian Redwine

It usually is the agent who provides these bios and thus the agent's assistants who keep them up to date (I should know as it is part of my job). I work for an agent who represents mostly playwrights, they write their own bios!

He used to have a really pathetic one up on Another Tongue (since taken down after their site remodel) -- it looked like somebody put it up after a chance meeting with him in a hallway! Even so, it led thomagination to the English File appearances -- so hey.
