Can I just say that I was absolutely blown away by ACO. Tom's reading of this was just extraordinary. I thought he made 'nadsat' sound like the most natural thing - something that kept me from reading the book. I loved my little droog Alex thanks to Tom. He is a bloody genius.

I never read the book (Tom hadn't either until he did the audio book) and I tried to watch the film but it was just too icky. BUT...I love listening to him read it. Amazing. I asked him about it when we met and he said it was a bit more of a challenge with the language. Another thing I loved was the introduction. Oh...and YHN (your humble narrator). Did you find yourself thinking and talking in nadsat? Just a malinky bit?

Did you find yourself thinking and talking in nadsat? Just a malinky bit?YES! After having listened to it, I used to think stuff was 'real horror show' instead of great and I still sometimes catch myself thinking 'malchik' instead of boy/young man! Just the other day in fact. For real, it's a keeper. ;D

Thanks Stockhollander. Your link doesn't work. Even if it is pasted into the browser. It gives a "Time Out" error. Here is another link to a sample. Perhaps it is the same one...the intro? Does this help you? HarperCollins. There is a sample there as well. Forgive me but, by "Oz" do you mean Australia? I got my copy of ACO from Amazon. I had pre-ordered it long before it was available. It is fantastic and well worth the money. I have listened to it several times. ooh and also, i recieved my new copy of The Libertine the other day, and while watching the deleted scenes ii showed our lovely Tom with no wig, about to have his way with the fine actress Elizabeth after her performance. He really does have a way with women.....the coin in the clevage is quite the turn on....Anyone else seen that? Reply MOVED to The Libertine thread...

As Hollandazed said...it is worth the wait. Now, you need to get In the Company of the Courtesan if you have not heard that. Make sure it is HIM though. And BTW....moredgood news on ACO...it is SEVEN hours, actually. Sigh. See you get more hours than you thought.
