I seriously doubt that was real. Tom does not seem like the tattoo type. Besides, he has said himself that he hates pain. Personally I hate them. It one of only two things I do not care for about Johnny Depp.

I hate them too, but Johnny pulls them off well. If I may ask what's the other thing you dislike about Johnny? Smoking. I knew someone would ask that. First of all I have to say that I am a huge Johnny Depp fan. If not for Johnny, I might never have discovered Tom when I did. I hope he has had the sense to quit. I know that Tom does it too and it makes me sad to think of what it might do to his beautiful voice, not to mention shortening his life. I have never, ever seen the attraction of the habit especially since it caused my father's death and indirectly the amputation of my younger brother's legs due to poor circulation. He started smoking at the age of 14...oddly it was the same year our dad died of a heart attack from smoking. Idiot brother. Stepping down from my soapbox now...hope I did not alienate anyone here.

Unfortunately I haven't seen the movie, unless someone can post a screencap of the shot. I too doubt its a real one, Most movies try very hard to keep to details close to the period. I don't think the costume or makeup dept would let something like a personal tattoo be noticable. And even then I'm sure the editing dept would have noticed too. Did anyone check into the history or background of Tom's character? Maybe King George V had one? Edited to add: "In Japan, George had a local artist tattoo a blue and red dragon on his arm" -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_V_of_the_United_Kingdom Well there ya go ;D If Tom doesn't like pain then I doubt he got a tat just because of a movie role. Most tattoos do hurt, but not as much as you expect, the human body can handle amazing amounts of pain, in incredible ways. I should know, proud owner of one tattoo and already planning my 2nd and 3rd for this summer *sneaks up on to the soap box* Ya smoking is gross! And no one likes kissing an ashtray *climbs back down* OK, I'm done

^^ the tattoo is for the role...I seriously doubt Tom would have a tattoo of that kind on his arm. If he had a tattoo, it would be smaller and more subtle...like Tom

Well, After seeing him with no shirt on in a few of his roles, like W&D and Land of the Blind (especially) the only place he could have a tattoo would be on his *cough, cough* .... behind....
Its an interesting thought...but i seriously doubt Tom would have a tattoo on his butt... LOL

He could also have a tattoo somewhere else, but I doubt his pain threshold would get him through THAT ideal. But there are just things one doesn't talk about. Some things that one must find out for themselves

in my Tom hollander Video there one clip respect to the tatto that he had in the arm. I dont know if the tattoo is real but in the real life he can have one in his little body. If someday I do an interview to him, I wll ask about it as well

I don't think he has a tatoo, I don't know exactly why ... but I can't imagine him with a tatoo I come back, I was in hollidays =) If I'm lucky, I will go to London a week, I don't stop to hope to meet Tom ...

Re. smoking I quite agree. In case anyone out there in the world is still unconvinced about the ravages of smoking and drinking on the human body, take a look at Vivien Leigh and what it did to her.
Personally, I love to smoke so much that I only allow myself to indulge in it once or twice a year so that it still feels utterly fantastic every time. I would hate to become addicted to it because it would take all pleasure out of it, so my heart goes out to those who are addicted to it because it's such an impossible habit to kick. Such a slippery slope of a habit.
In all things, moderation... (yes, I know I sound nuts, but it's the true nature of my 'fixation').
