I've just watched the first episode. I know I haven't read the book and I did feel it got off to a slow start but overall I enjoyed it. Tom really wasn't on screen long enough, but hopefully we'll see more of him soon!

I loved Tom's part...actually, if it weren't for his voice, I wouldn't have recognized him. He looked so different!
I didn't care much for the rest of it though. It was too depressing and confusing for my taste, but the cast did an excellent job.

As someone dear to me once said "Why should we care about this guy?" Tom and Gillian were ace at the D & D though. All the acting was great. Sadly, a lot was cut out for the series and I heard even more for the Masterpiece version to make it fit the time slots.

I missed the 1st of the 3 part episodes, but I got to see Tom's part and, of course, he is always excellent! Also, Kim Cantrell & Gillian Anderson were excellent as well. I found it heartbreaking how Logan lost everyone he loved and especially his family in the war. I did appreciate the tenderness in how they filmed the scenes with him and his wife (Freya) & toddler daughter (Stella) with the young green leaves on the branches and backyard family time. However, it was confusing at times, but beautifully done in many ways. I especially like the last scene where the brilliant white light appears in the floral meadow as he is enjoying the wine and he sees his lovely Freya. Off the subject, Gillian is going to be in Johnny English 2 my daughter & I can't wait - love Johnny English - hilarious

I didnt see this when it was first aired, and wished I had ... I had read the book previously and as a rule Im generally disappointed with film/tv adaptations, but this was absolutely beautiful from beginning to end.
