Finally seen it..... I loved it. Can't believe I'm excited for next monday now. I loved Colin too and Nigel he was funny too. I've always thought the bloke who plays the Arch Deacon would make a good werewolf, I don't know why. I don't need to say that I thought Tom was of course marvellous. I love these kinda dramas - lightly funny, intelligent. I like the silly ones too, but these kinds are the ones you wanna keep. I agree Fiona. I loved it too. But as you said the silly ones are good too. I love Vicar of Dibley and Father Ted as well. They all have their place. Didn't you love the ending? LOL. Poor dear Colin. Gotta love him.

Absolutely loved it - Tom was excellent and it was one of those comedies that has so many excellent characters you just can't wait for the next episode!

Vicar of Dibly is hilarious - always makes me laugh. I never really watched Father Ted but the ones I did I loved.
They just don't make things like that very much any more. Well they do Rev. of course being one - but they used to be very common.
Although, Doc Martin on ITV is very good if you ever get the chance to see that.
I am definitely looking forward to episode two - I thought the way this one ended today was so good hehe!
Oh and I loved when he took his collar off and yelled "fuck off" at those builders. Haha! Adam is the coolest vicar and well of course... incredibly sweet.

Oops! They've already decided when they release the DVD!? Too quick! Well, I'm glad to hear I can add it in my Tom collection shelf so early, though... Hehe.
Thanks for the info!

Yeah, I agree with you, fiona. Such a fantastic episode...! Although I don't like Darren either, I hate the man who wanted to wash the vicarage windows most! He interrupted them twice at the very moment! What a bloody idiot! lol. ;D

Rev has been named Comedy of the Week in the Radio Times magazine.
"It is not always laugh-out-loud but the increasingly brilliant Tom Hollander is winning hearts and minds as well-meaning vicar Adam Smallbone, who this week has to wrestle with his own less seemly desires"
And some letters at the back:
Rev is funny touching and psychologically astute. in particular I want to praise Tom Hollander who manages to bring insight pathos, honour and nobility, as well as a believable humanity, to this role. His nuanced performance shows the paradoxes of a visibly Christian life in a society that doesn't always share the same values. It isn't so much the Christianity that seems lauded her as the kindness of the man.
This programme seens to me the best tradition of British broadcasting: it doesn't take the least resistance in being cynical. It's a gentle social commentary as well as a comic drama,
- Moira Laidlaw
... At last, a real vicar: not odd or piousm but realm vulnerable and honest. And he speaks our language.
- Rev John Shillaker
and of course you have to have a negative one:
... I watched the first episode of Rev with mounting horror. The plot was good but the dialogue was full of sexual innuendo and offensive language. I'm no Mary White House Really?? You can fool me. and I know it was after nine o'clock - but that's no excuse. Uhm actually it is.
Please, for the sake of anyone who might be considering going to any church in the near or distant future, do something about this awful, insulting parody of a vicar's vocation.
Judy Farbrother
Well, we all have the right to an opinion, I guess. Sniff but I'd be more tempted to listen to a vicar like Adam who doesn't pretend he's a saint then whatever person she's more used to. Hmph.

Oh the innuendo is soo much fun! Darren...what a tosser. Great episode, really had a laugh, and a cringe at the happy clappy brigade. Will Alex and Adam ever get fruity?

Well, I hate seeing the negative reviews but as you mentioned there will always be negatives because you can never please everyone. THe good thing is that they seem to be few and far between. Maybe I am biased but I love it. It is so great to see Tom in a more sensitive role. I shared the first episode with my daughter and son-in-law (who happen to be Catholic btw though they are not regular church-goers). Last night Karin and I watched Ep 2. It was hard to tell what she thought though she seemed to enjoy it. I could not get myself to ask what she thought. You see they know how I am about everything Hollander... I wasn't going to share ep 2 but last night Karin and I were alone and I just couldn't wait to watch. I asked her if she wanted to watch with me and she excitedly said "Yes!" I have said this before but I will say it again. I am so happy for Tom having something to call his own.
