"It is nearly 20 years since Poliakoff directed a feature film, the unsettling Close My Eyes, starring Clive Owen. It was about incest. Since then he has become the darling of TV drama, some say the greatest practitioner since Dennis Potter. If he has elevated the genre to an art form, then its highest peak was surely scaled with the Emmy-award winning The Lost Prince in 2003. The casting of the diminutive Tom Hollander as George V was inspired - the perfect metaphor for the littleness of England as the sun began to set on the Empire." www.telegraph.co.uk/news/6570240/Stephen-Poliakoff-Anti-semitism-will-always-be-around.html• • • And this regarding the upcoming Gracie! from The Times (London) November 14, 2009 Saturday Edition 1; National Edition The famous three; Pick of the week ; Women We Loved reveals the turbulent personal lives of a trio of national treasures, says Sarah Vine… "…Casting three fine (and famous) actresses in the leading roles, with a supporting cast of equally admirable males (Matthew Macfadyen as Blyton's beleaguered spouse, Tom Hollander as Field's Italian husband, Derek Jacobi as a pregnant dogily frank Frederick Ashton)"

Not a play LB. On BBC Television... "Women We Loved" is what they are calling the three separate films which are "Enid", "Gracie" and "Margot". They are being broadcast on BBC4 for three consecutive Mondays beginning tonight (16 November) Gracie! will air next Monday and Margot after that. I hope that helps. I watched "Enid" a few minutes ago. What powerful performances by Helena Bonham Carter and Matthew Macfadyen. But I also have to say this: What a horrid woman Enid was! As a mother, I found it painful to watch. Wow. I am certain that Helena will get some sort of an award though.
