Ha ha. Love it. BTW...that reminds me. Martin Freeman is in The Voorman Problem with Tom. Hopefully we will get some news about that soon. I have been told to hang tight on it. Stay tuned. It will be worth it. Oooo! Dish!Dish!Dish!Dish!, please! I'm soooo loving Twitter! It's like crack for me! Found this through my new contacts on it: righteous validation for my righteous indignation over Hollywoodland... www.guardian.co.uk/film/2009/nov/03/hollywood-genre-repetition

Found this through my new contacts on it: righteous validation for my righteous indignation over Hollywoodland... www.guardian.co.uk/film/2009/nov/03/hollywood-genre-repetitionHaha. Curious, eh? Well, I have a friend on Twitter that is an actor who had a part in a short film called The Voorman Problem. It came up in my searches several months ago. It is about a man in prisoned who thinks he is God (Tom). I did a little digging and came up with the casting call for it and contacted the guy who was surprised that I had found out about it at all. I told him I was interested because I run Thomagination and would like to put up some info. He asked me not to say anything until they had the official website up for it. He also told me that he had been to Thomagination many times (is it too presumptuous to think he found Tom that way? Ya.) I poked him with another *remember me?* email the other day and he said he had not forgotten me and to hang tight on it. So we'll see. Apparently it will do the film festival circuit but not sure when. I am also in contact with the guy that edited it and he promised me some stills but I have yet to hear from him. That is all I know for now. Thanks for posting that article Sarah. I too wonder the same thing. And with the world is such a mess why do they make these awful horror movies and movies that give people more ideas on destruction? I guess I am naïve. No, I do know the answer. There are plenty of idiots out there that will pay the money and that is, sadly, the bottom line.

This came to me today and it made me smile. Very nicely done (despite the American bashing. Ahem.) 6 People Who Could Play Bilbo BagginsI especially like what they say about Tom: At age 42, Tom Hollander is the closest chronologically to take up the mantle of Hobbiton’s favorite treasure hunter. Hollander’s resume is probably the most impressive as well. The British thespian had a recurring role in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise as well as appearing in more traditionally respected movies such as the critically acclaimed (but incredibly tedious–there wasn’t a single elf or dwarf to be found in the entire movie) Gosford Park. Hollander might just be the perfect choice for the role, but ironically at 42, he may be seen as too old to play the 51-year old Baggins. Why We Like Him as Bilbo: He’s not American he’s possibly the best actor of the bunch and he actually attended the British preparatory academy, The Dragon School.

I think the American bashing is made up with the very last post. And though I would love to see Tom do it (or Tom do anything for that matter), my vote still goes to Martin Freeman! He is a cutie too!

Being 42 is told? Not when it comes to Tom Hollander!

Here is a tiny shred of hope: Peter Jackson is casting this week. Watch the short video for some encouraging news: www.heatvisionblog.com/2009/12/peter-jackson-talks-hobbit.htmlHe says that the only character that is definite from previous films is Ian McKellen and I am not sure I believe this but he says it is not "star-driven".

Peter Jackson's films have never been "star-driven" except for The Frighteners which bombed.
With the original trilogy, the average American would have only heard of Elijah Wood. Even the first X-Men hadn't been released when Ian McKellan was cast so unless one was familiar with his British work or art films, he was virtually a nobody. Orlando Bloom had JUST graduated from drama school.
I can't wait to see who they've found.

Well as much as I agree that Tom was perfect I also agree that Martin will be great too. Besides, I honestly think Tom is fully booked with other projects. Such as Rev. And the play. And who knows what else that we don't even know about YET.

I agree, can't see Tom as 'The Hobbit', he's too good! However, if for some reason the script is great and Tom does get the role...you know what this means, dont you? Its A list time and we will have lost him to the fanboys!!!!!!

I thought Martin Freeman landed that role. But, yes, if that were to happen I think you are right Marie.
