Anyone else here have the DVD? If you do make sure you watch the deleted scenes. The first one is Tom and Samantha and explains why he said this in the Pirates interview with Film Focus:
TH: Well, I've just done a bit in The Golden Age, which is the second Elizabeth, with Cate Blanchett, which is Shekhar Kapur directing again. I acted with Samantha Morton who was being very brilliant as Mary Queen of Scots. I was playing her jailor who was sort-of in love with her but not really.
Gives his character a completely different direction which is probably why they deleted it. Anyway...it is a must see.

How much is Tom in this film? I've kinda wanted to watch it anyway and what is this scene? He has about 3 or 4 short scenes and he is in the first of the deleted scenes (at least on the Region 1 version) It is quite interesting to watch the deleted scene because it gives a completely different aspect to his relationship with Mary Queen of Scots which is probably why they removed it. It is a good film and well worth watching with or without Tom. Here is a cap of one of his scenes:

can you describe the aspect?! I think so… ( BTW Spoilers for those who have not seen it) If you just watch the film as edited for release then you see him as being in control of her. He is, after all supposed to be her keeper or 'jailor' and he definitely has the upper hand in things. That image I put in that last post is when He is confronting her with the proof that she is a traitor with a message that was intercepted (much to her horror). If you watch the deleted scene it is quite the opposite. In that scene he is quite obviously smitten with her. In it she is doing embroidery of some 'underthings' which causes him a little bit of excitement to think about. In *that* scene *she* is the one in control.
