Hi, I just bought the dvds of "Wives and daughters" and I whant to share my opinion. I liked the movie, but I find there is too much material in there, too much sceenes, you know. Acting is wery good but carachters are types, not real persons. There is one exception: Osborne Hamley, i.e., Tom Hollander: HE really is flesh and blood. Wat do you think? I like to know your opinion. Max

His death scene is about as real as it gets. And his illness...it is so real that *I* feel like *I* have it. I always cry at the end when his father is carrying his body home....and when he sneaks off to see his secret wife? Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I don't normally go for the fan made vids very much but there is a really beautifully made one for W & D. The music will make just about anyone sob. If you are interested. www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UAyjCyuNl4

Hi, thank's for your answer. I must say, I was really crossed with the scene of Osborne's death. I think the director ruined it. You see, it was too short. Tom did a splendid job, but the all thing passed away, if I may say so, too quikcly. Anyway, Tom does awfully good when he sobs!!!. Laughing and weeping, the best sides of our beloved Tom, that's his intimate nature, don't you think? By!!!

Oh, I really liked Wives and Daughters. It was a bit meandering at times, but I loved the cast so that didn't matter. I thought the death scene was supposed to be abrupt so that we would empathize more with the characters who suddenly have Osborne stripped away from them.
Has anyone read the unfinished novel?

Hi, maybe what you say is true. In any case, I don't like to see Tom dying, I want him alive and well, doing movies untill his 80's. I didn't read the novel. Ciao! Max

You are welcome Dani...like I said, there are not that many that are well done but I like that one. BTW...your new avatar is wonderful! That is your latest drawing of Cutty that you were talking about, right? WOW. Can you post a bigger version in The Endeavour thread? It would be great to see it in more detail! I have got to get back to drawing! I think I am afraid...it has been a long time. I am rusty.

I watched W & D and I loved it. Osbourne is gentle, polite, sweet. He deserved to be understood by his father. I almost cry when I watch the scene of his death or I melt with his smile. Oh! God, this kiss... I wish to be she. Tom has a beautiful mouth.
