'I had to give my baby away' - a mother's moving story of caring for her disabled child The Daily Mail UK (March 1, 2008) www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/you/article.html?in_article_id=522925&in_page_id=1908- Abridged extract of When the Bough Breaks - A Mother's Story by Julia Hollander "My brother [the actor Tom Hollander] wanted to do something to help his niece. He cajoled his famous friends into performing at the Oxford Playhouse and their hilarious show raised more than £40,000 for Helen House hospice in Oxford. It's the only place where Tania can get respite – for 14 nights a year Immie goes there and is seriously pampered. The show has become an annual event, creating publicity, cash and many, many laughs."

I am wondering if I can read this book. Part of me wants to and another part doesn't know if I can handle it. It makes me very thankful that both of our kids are normal. It is really great that the fund-raising that Tom started for Helen House is an annual event as well as the other things he does like the Great South Run which also benefited Helen House as well as the Teenage Cancer Trust. What a guy!

The article is beautiful, but sad. I have liked reading it in spite of the content. The truth is that the Hollander´s sister is a woman with a lot of value and integrite and her brother it is also. Both they have a big heart.

Mum's book on disabled daughter (Oxford Mail) March 11, 2008 www.oxfordmail.net/display.var.2111590.0.mums_book_on_disabled_daughter.php"Her brother is actor Tom - and in 2005 he organised Childish Things, a charity event in aid of Helen House Hospice in Magdalen Road, East Oxford, where Imogen has respite care. The Gosford Park star encouraged a host of famous friends to take part in the performance at the New Theatre and the comedy event raised an estimated £40,000 for Helen House. Among those to take part were Rory McGrath, Bill Nighy and Hugh Laurie - and Jude Law and Sienna Miller were in the audience. Formerly in the opera world, Ms Hollander was also a writer-in-residence at Campsfield House detention centre in Kidlington. Comedians Jimmy Carr and Bill Bailey have already signed up for Childish Things 4, which is being held in aid of Helen House at the New Theatre on Sunday, April 20."

What an amazing woman Julia Hollander is. To be completely honest about the feelings she went through and to share that with the readers had to have taken alot of courage. Sensitive, strong, vulnerable, courageous....these are qualities I believe Julia possesses.
